I have had Timbuktu bags before and they had the usual nylon woven type fabric that backpacks are made of. Some had a little sheen to them which was fine. This bag seems to have a sort of plastic coating on it that gives it a sort of sheen like fake leather and also makes it sorta stiff. It is very small which I wanted but I found the pockets under the flap were too narrow to fit my iPhone in its bumper type case. There are two pockets but it would make more sense to me if they were not the same size, why not make one wide enough for a phone and the other one a bit narrower for pens. Those pockets are deep and would be hard to get small things like coins out of.
The flap is held in place by Velcro which means it is loud which bothers some. I bought this as a cross body purse and even at its longest the strap is a bit short. If you are a taller or wider than average person I would not suggest this as a cross body type bag. I returned it... It seems well constructed but poorly designed so if none of these design issues bother you then it might be fine.

This compact purse fits perfectly across my chest. Room for smartphone, essentials, and it has a handy key hook. Lightweight and does not feel cumbersome.

I was looking forward to using this bag as a basic purse. The neutral gray was a plus for me, and I liked that it looked simple and subdued. When I received it, it was a very tight fit to get anything into the bag - honestly, my wallet barely made it but there wouldn't be space for anything else. The inside of the gray was this neon blue fabric that was really unappealing. The velcro was frustrating to open and close the purse. The gray color was not as basic gray as the photo looks - it almost has strands of black and white in it. Might be a great fit for someone else, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Look to Kavu bags - the purse I received from them was great.
